Let Me Go
A long lost love letter, left out and lonesome,
To the remorseful romantic who ruined me.
Took me in like an addict intakes heroin
Then coveted, convinced, and claimed me.
I loved you enough to let you go free
When everything was banished, like a traitor of the land
You still remained, leaving me within the pocket
Of the jacket I gave you, which you never wear
Unless you want to feel beautiful once again.
Because I made you feel beautiful, I know,
But you wanted that natural normality,
And that is fine. I understand, I truly do,
But please release me from your pocket, that space within your locket
In which I am confined and bound to you
I apologize for my hurtful words, but they must be said.
So just go, go so far off and away
That we may never brush our cheeks so close again.
Just let me learn to live again, without you
And your polished pale pink nails digging into my throat
Choking me until I’ve forgotten the taste of air.
So pretty please, I beg of you, just let me go.
