Let Me Go

Dear Mom You gave me life with my first breath I’ve prepared to better than you in the event of your death Through all the family adventures I’ve remained so humble You would turn in your grave that were to ever crumble You admire my hard work, honesty, and generosity You see I have no fear as I feed my curiosity You have protected me but let me feel pain Through much suffering I did not complain I am naturally followed by those I don’t know You see me embrace that gift and lead the show We live in a time where women are powerful and strong I know this legacy and where I belong Women own business empires and lead of their country That did not come without being scrappy and hungry I feed me passion by being extraordinary And you already know - for me this is necessary I want to be my own boss and build an empire But I can’t have you calling the shots, trying to be an umpire It is my destiny to shape my own legacy And I need your empathy not another enemy I am forever grateful for you love and compassion And I can feel through any failures this is everlasting As I prepare to leave on this journey I thank you for what you have done for me, I am free.
