Let Me Tell You Something

Let me tell you something -
Life isn't fair.
It lures and taunts and cheats and lies.
Don't listen to life because life doesn't have the answers.

Let me tell you something -
Life is grief.
Every tear, every anguished cry
It needs those to survive  - to thrive.

Let me tell you something -
Life is death,
It doesn't care about you, your friends, your family -
Life works for someone who just want you lost.

Let me tell you something else:
I lied.

Miracles and joy and love -
Look around you!
Life is overflowing with it!
For every tear there is a laugh,
For every cry there's a song.

When you shed a tear,
When there is a blade pressed against you skin,
Remember this:
Life is what you make of it.
See the hope and the joy, not the fears.
