Let Them, Change Them.

Creativity was a virus

A never ending ire

They told me to hush

And they fueled my fire

Tyrants come in every form

Bodies large and small

They’ll order us around

And beat us ‘til we fall

Notebooks and journals

Filled beyond imagine

I expressed myself

And gave in to my passion

Writing was an outlet

Gave me a kind of power

To show a different world

And let hope flower

Writers always fail

That’s what they said

But they gave me Frost

And that was what I read

I’ll be the one they doubt

Of that, I’m well aware

They’ll say I’m no good

And I’ll say fair’s fair

Doubt me if you want

Insult me if you please

Say my work is garbage

And call it a disease

I’ll say good, then

Let it infect this generation

Spreading change

And make a better nation

For poetry is a force

A natural disaster

People stop and stare

And move a little faster

Fast is what I want

Change is what we need

I write to bring these things about

And bring these tyrants to their knees.
