Let Us Be

“Aye fathead I’m back,”
the familiar voice made my heart melt like soft, honey butter,
as I turned, my eyes locked with his brown , almond eyes.
Praying to god this was no illusion, his presence made the butterflies in my stomach flutter.

My legs felt weak and a sudden heat of rush came over me as I walked towards him,
any hug could not compare to such a warm, affectionate embrace,
for my wish was only to capture this moment in time to replay endlessly.
When my head rose, I caught a whiff of his sweet cologne, as we stood face to face.

Our conversations about the past were intriguing,
memories were in the making, and our story will go down in my book of history.
My smile could not be more genuine;
He then planted an irresistible kiss leaving me with a feeling of mystery.

My hand reached out to meet his,
Its foolish but I felt like I was his wife to be,
Then I hear a gradual beeping. No, this can’t be a mere dream,
reality was hitting, but as my eyes opened my mind can only scream, please don’t awake me.
