Let U.S. Be Proud

Of course there’s always a need for improvement
Of course there’s always a need for change
And our generation must be a voice of movement
In our country’s broken life exchange

The American Dream askew
Unemployment across the land
Here with red, white, and blue
We only have to make a stand

Yes there are problems that reside
Yes there is a fight
Yes many people are afraid and hide
But we are still a light

Despite many broken dreams
We still provide aid to many
Like woven, fabricated seams,
We are richer than others with just a penny

Yes perfect we are not
But I challenge you find that perfect place
For you can’t find a place without a spot
For you would be on an endless chase

We have issues that need to be addressed,
Issues that I pray will go away,
But overall I believe we are blessed,
Blessed to live in the USA

For have you ever looked beyond our wall,
to the lands across the sea,
where dictators sit proud and tall,
preventing the people from liberty?

Have you ever looked beyond our gate,
where wars rage on other nation’s ground,
and anger, malice, guns, and hate
are the constant ringing sound?

Have you ever looked beyond our shore
where poverty stretches across the way,
where finding food has become a chore
and numbers drop day by day?

And here we stand with our heads bowed,
No need to hide our beliefs;
In other places people hide from the unjust crowd
and their lives are soon cut brief

How blessed we are to live in the USA
With freedom of speech and love
to be single, married, straight or gay,
we do stand out and above

How blessed we are to live in the USA
with the Stars and Stripes waving proud,
with the freedom we have to worship and pray,
eyes closed head bowed

How blessed we are to live in the USA
with the power to have opinions and vote,
to not be controlled but to have a say
in our own lives is something to note

Let us not forget the freedom we possess,
Let us be thankful for where we live every day,
Let us remember those who have less,
Let us be proud of the USA!
