Letter #26

Dear Dwyane,

You know when you first came around I hated you

But you came and you earned my kinsmanship

Despite the bullshit

You were a perfect gentleman

A companion to my lonely, disillusioned mother

Someone to look after her when I could not

I am trying not to cry

But the tears offer redemption

Tempting me with the opportunity to reminiscence

Remember when times were tight

A role model and self-proclaimed 2k master

You gave my family light in times of encasing darkness

A visionary

Conjuring beauty where it did not live

Making men out of boys

To ask anymore of you would be foolish

Because you have handed the reins to me

Forever in your heart, your loving family
