Letter to Alice
January 30, 2018
Alice,
Do you see me drifting on these clouds right now? Soft steps traveling no fixed path. And what about the flowers? Everywhere I go, more flowers grow. The dismal trails I once followed no longer entice me; my bruises have healed, and my smile deepened. And now I dance in a sundress, giggling with each sway my steps make. Do you feel this euphoria as well? The beams of the sun which strike my chilled shoulders; do these beams reach you Alice? Our separation is so broad at this point, I would assume not. Alice, I dream for you to feel this bliss, this ecstasy. The misery has no worth. Take my hand, and I’ll show you this wonderland. Let’s run through the fields and roll down the hills. I recognize the strain that consumes you. It once consumed me; hindering my senses and obstructing my growth. Sit with me and watch, as the water falls in single drops, from the muted gray skies which reign from above. And watch yourself smile; a broad, buoyant unbounded smile. Come to this harmonious haven with me, and be free.
With love,
Maeve
