Letter from the Better

“Polly want a cracker?” is what we said,

You would drink so much that you

Probably didn’t have any brain cells left in your head.

Then, you were incarcerated, I tried holding you dear.

You left, and I took care of everyone for two years.

People would talk, said you could care less.

When we went to church, they said we

            Couldn’t have been more blessed.

We stopped contact and you lost us,

There were too many things that we just couldn’t trust.

Said you’d change, you got in a wreck and hit a pole,

Eventually you went from “Polly” to “Asshole”

Indirectly showing us who you wanted to be,

Even had the guts to say no one wanted me.

Now, you’re rolling in tears of the time you’ve lost,

But that’s what you get because that’s what it costs.
