Letter to Carlotta Walls

It takes courage to fight against when you are the prey

The eagle that was once a symbol of liberty and justice,

Is now a symbol of fear.

It takes courage to fight against

It takes courage to face to the lies of your nation

And become an independent person

Of your own

It takes courage to fight against

It takes courage to walk through the doors of a school unwelcoming

And to face the stones, pencils, and spit

Without showing a sign of fear

It takes courage to fight against

It takes courage to start a revolution

Carlotta walls.

Little rocks nine.

Compassion to change.

Courage.
