Letter to Death
Dear Death,
I have been scandalously intimate with you for some time now
I first met you when I was young, you’ve took a few of my loved ones
Now I see you wish to take me also
Sometimes I want to open my arms to you and feel your embrace
At other times, you make me feel afraid; I shrink away when I feel your presence or when I hear your name
My life has become the most beautiful tragedy, you’ve changed my life for the worse
You whisper me sweet nothings while I’m in bed; begging me to leave it all and come with you
I cut my wrists and drug my mind to please you, but I’m afraid to leave
Please let me stay a little longer, I have so much more love left to give
I fear my lover has become infatuated with you as I have, or maybe you’re creeping behind him waiting for the moment to steal him from his daughter, me, and the world
I often fall in love with people who I know will leave, but death, please don’t take him away from me
I love him more than he’ll ever know; I can’t help it, I see him for who he really is, even though he doesn’t really see himself
I want to be alive before I die
I have cried so many nights, I’ve been torn between two destinies, life or death
I’ve seen you in the eyes of a man, at times I’ve see you behind the wheel of a car, I’ve even seen you in myself
You’re always there, haunting me, pulling me towards you
Will I live to see 18?
I don’t want to be afraid anymore...
I was just born with tragedy in my veins; in the end of it all, what will I become?
She could love me until the end, but she is not allowed to save me
Many of my peers are obsessed with you
We are the generation of the broken, the fearless, the lost
You will eventually take us all before we have any chance of changing the world
Why are you so cruel?
Are you ever saddened by the lives you have taken?
Do you get tired of hearing the cries and shouts directed towards you?
Do you ever feel guilty about taking the innocent?
Sons and daughters?
They haven’t even had the chance to sin, to live
We’ve been cursed since birth
Live like there’s no tomorrow, one day we’ll all be in the dirt
