Letter to a Dream
Dear Dream,
You who can take me into the most wondrous field
Or bring me to the most fear stricken state
From which my mind needs to be healed
You, formed from which I’ve had on my plate
The places you have taken me have been nice as of yesterday
However, you may be ready to drop a nightmare in their wake
But when I go to sleep later today
I’d better not feel one bit of a shake
For even though you are the lord while I’m asleep
The nightmare stricken peasant in me is ready to revolt.
Waiting for the next nightmare you send for my mind to keep
Which will then cause me from my bed to bolt
From the flames of hell to the darkness of an alleyway
If one more nightmare I receive
Our relationship may go away
And from your house I will retrieve
The key to my unconscious mind
After which, you will never find.
Sincerely,
The dreamer
