Letter to the Man in the Mirror
Dear Man in the mirror,
Why do you no longer have that youthful shine?
Is it because you know you are at the end of your life line?
Why can you not force an old broken tooth smile?
Is it because you haven't seen your wife in awhile?
Why do you cry as you rise in the morning and fall at night?
Is it because your hearing is shaky and you are losing your sight?
Why do you shun people away when they try to assist?
Is it because they remind you of all the people you missed?
And why do you seem so content?
Is it because you are happy with the life you have spent?
Why do you feel it is necessary to keep on living?
Is because you have so many more gifts to be giving?
And why do you still laugh at the nightly news?
Is it because you know you have nothing to lose?
Why do you still hug your family and grandchildren?
Is it because you know that life is worth living?
Sincerely,
The Man Looking Back at You
