A Letter to Modesto, California

Dear Modesto,

Despite everything I love you

Sure, you may be know for you auto theft

And the countless homeless lining the streets

And a notorious crime

But not everything about you is awful

You are my first home, where I was born and where I still reside

You were there for almost everything, except for the fun vacations

You have your moments to shine

Even your people are pretty great

I love your pointless and dangerous bike roads that no one uses

I love how you pride yourself on being the home of the creator of Star Wars

And celebrate him through a movie that no one of this generation has watched

I still like seeing that cool car parade though

In your messy and loud downtown I find one street where I find peace

One strip of road, with the best food, theatre, and art gallery

There I find my inspiration and my appetite

In this one street of Modesto there is life

I write this to you even though I want to leave you

Every bird must fly away sometime

You helped me set my standard, whatever those may be

And so I say thank you to my home

You really are too modest
