A Letter To My Beloved
The course of true love never did run smooth,
To wade through Styx proved painless, unlike you;
To Despair’s embrace I go, I’ll write soon.
In you I felt was the Fountain of Youth,
But soon I realized the water’s foul hue;
The course of true love never did run smooth.
Drawn to the Elysium in your tune,
The waters were too wretched, full of gloom;
To Despair’s embrace I go, I’ll write soon.
Poets and seers speak of tears and hard truth,
The Thief’s Downfall revealed evil that grew;
The course of true love never did run smooth.
Thinking of the Lethe is cause to swoon,
I long to bathe in it’s forgetful slew;
To Despair’s embrace I go, I’ll write soon.
Lack of love in your eyes is enough proof,
You’re heartless, cruel, in everything you do.
The course of true love never did run smooth.
To Despair’s embrace I go, I’ll write soon.
