Letter To My Brother
Dear Brother,
How can I squeeze so many emotions onto this small blank sheet,
And still, find a way make this inkless pen leak
How do I tell you that I fear for you every day
This world has gotten a little bit too cruel ‘in every kind of way
How do I tell you that the reason I risked being called a tag-a-long
Was because I wanted to make sure every time you left you came back home
How do I tell you that I picked little fights with you just for the fun of it
And that every time one of your friends came around I hated that shit
Because you would yell at me and push me to the side
Oh how I used to yell back a little louder in an attempt to crush your pride
How could I tell you that I wouldn’t be this way forever
And maybe the next time you pushed me away I wouldn’t attempt to befriend you, not ever
How do I admit how much of a brat I was back then
But how can you blame me when you were my first true friend
How do I tell you that I thought you had some of the worst relationships in the past
Ladies don’t feel offended, what I speak is the truth, if it wasn’t you both would’ve last
How do I tell you that your temper frightens me at times
And no, you don’t scare me, it’s just that temper makes you blind
And a rageful blind like that can land you in one of two places
Neither of which is pleasant and I dare not say it
How do I tell you that your approval meant the most to me
The first male figure in my life, even though you weren’t supposed to be
How do I tell you most of this when it’s not easy
How do I tell you the next part at the risk of sounding cheesy?
How do I tell you that my love for you is endless
That my prayers for you are relentless
Or how your recklessness has made me restless
And how my gratefulness towards you is tremendous
How do I explain why I would step in front of a bullet for you without a second thought
And the fact that I wouldn’t hesitate to fight by your side when you fought
How do I tell you that I feel we’re drifting further and further apart
Seems as though everything comes before me and it enrages my heart
How do I tell you that I’m not as strong as I seem
And most of the times I smile and do the most annoying things,
When my mental is unknitting itself seam by seam
Dear Brother…..
I have about a galaxy of words to say to you
Phrases to quote to you, but only can think of these things
Thank you for teaching me how to throw a football
And how to land a ball in the hoop
Teaching me how to write a rhyme
Teaching me how to read a book
Thank you for your undying support
That’s really what’s up
And finally, thank you for never giving up
