A Letter To My Dad

Dear Dad,

Remember how close we used to be.

I thought I was the luckiest little girl

because of all the love you used to show me.

You were my hero, my inspiration, my rock.

Never did I think we could so quickly fall apart.

How could it go from having fun and always smiling

to all this fighting and a house full of fear.

All these broken promises,

yet you wonder why I'm so distant.

Saying things would change,

but continuing to make these "mistakes."

These memories, I wish I could erase.

So heartbreaking and painful.

Out of touch with reality.

Pretending that you guys could make your relationship work.

Only to end up breaking the special bonds between more than just me and you.

Left alone in the home where it all started.

But only this time, it's empty and lonely.

Just you and I left.

Nothing is the same.

Wishing things were easier.

Praying that we could somehow rekindle.

Feeling so hopeless.

I don't want this to continue forever.

We will both regret this if we don't make change.

Our father and daughter love is not out of range.

Love, Your Daughter.
