A Letter to My Home

The city where people gloat about state pride,

The city where people discuss the pesticides,

The city that is as hot as fire is now my home,

Where heat never ceases to roam.

I miss you home,

I miss seeing your palm trees bloom,

I hate being surrounded by these fumes.

When will I see you again?

Thinking about you makes me grin.

Sweat trickles down my skin,

No seasons to be seen,

Where’s the green?

All I see is heat.

Where’s the blue ocean?

All I see is waves with no motion.

This ugly, gloomy city depresses me home,

Not my city thank God,

I am from elsewhere abroad.

Rescue me home I beg for you to find me.

This is my final plea.

The Magnolia city not so pretty

The city with the astrodome,

I no longer call my home.
