Letter to my Niece

Dear Promise, your presence is comparable to a candle that is able to give light to any room. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to call myself your aunt.

Despite your age you are able to carry maturity many will never be able to possess. Although you are highly intelligent, you will make mistakes. Making mistakes is a learning process that can be painful, but is immensely important.

You may forget many things life has taught you throughout your journey but never forget the importance of hope and acceptance. Do not lose hope for yourself nor anyone else. There will be many people different from you, some may describe them as weird but they are just as worthy as love and acceptance as any other.

You are unique, do not compare yourself. By comparing yourself to others you will only be holding yourself back. Instead of comparing yourself, realize the beauty you have deep within and know you are constantly growing as a person.

There may be situations that feel you can change, situations you regret. Living in regret will not help you move forward. You may feel the scenario weighing you down, but by constantly reliving the memory you are never going to be able to move past the situation.

Never forget the love I will always have for you. The first day I met you I knew in my heart that you will be able to change the world. I am excited to witness the change in the world you will create, the incredible footstep you will leave. Thank you for always being a light in my life.

I love you,

Auntie Carlie
