Letter to My Past

Dear Ex-lover,

I always say it is harder to forgive someone who has never apologized

But I soon realized that forgiveness would obtain the closure I need

And it was a difficult task that would guarantee freedom

Freedom from the obligation I thought I had towards you

Broke shackles and packed my bags to move on

And find the girl I once lost due to your emergence in my life

To think one day I would have been your wife

Only to be left with heartbreak and disappointment of lies and deceit

That altered the heart of the once sweet and charming girl I was

But despite the fact you did not reconcile our relationship

I want you to be cognizant that I forgive you

I forgive you for all the hurt you brought into my life

Thinking I wouldn’t be good enough for anyone else

Now I am content and happy with myself

It molded me into the person I am today

So thank you for you time in my life

Even if it was only a lesson

That led me to suicidal thoughts and depression

A time when I thought it was impossible to recover from

But now I am an unstoppable woman

Sincerely,

A phenomenal woman
