Letter to My Past Self

As years pass by you begin to change

As years grow closer you're not the same

Time will tell for what is to come

You will gain some knowledge and lose some

You will never think in the same manner

And some events may hit you like a hammer

Don’t worry these things may give you damage

But it’s nothing that you can’t handle

So it may not seem like it now, but you’ll shine like a candle

As broken as you may feel, the pieces will collect

And that same broken you, you will not reflect

Your memories will turn into lessons

And everything and everyone that hurt you will lessen

This remains true for the future and beyond

So when hardships come your way you’ll know how to respond

With positivity and power you will inject

So that same broken you, you will no longer reflect
