a letter to my ten year old self.

dear 10 year old marti,

by now, you have certainly noticed that girls are always boiled down
to their looks.

you've noticed that most girls are pretty.

you've noticed that you don't look like other girls.

you're tall. taller than most. and your stomach sticks out enough that
when you wear tight shirts, you feel guilty for doing so.

stop feeling guilty.

you are more than your looks.
you are more than the upset feeling in your stomach that happens when you
look in a mirror.

you are everything.

you're the sun that shines each morning,
and the moon that says good night.

you are whatever you want to be
if you put your mind to it.

things will pick up.
life will change.

you will perservere.
you will move on.

love,
18 year old marti
