A Letter to Myself
To Whom it May Concern,
When I think about myself,
A fear begins to grow,
One that is only inside my head,
One that I am too afraid to show.
A prodigious brick wall begins to form inside,
The intelligent, yet hesitant,
Constraints of my mind.
I see a bright, young girl,
Ready to take on the world.
Yet, a girl that is forever trapped behind,
A certain brick wall, that keeps her confined.
But, somewhere deep inside she,
Wants to extirpate the wall, wants so badly to be free,
Wants to announce that to the world, unequivocally.
However, as can be expected,
The monster inside of myself is very well protected.
Every time I go to change,
The wall pushes back, adds to my derange.
One can only hope, i’ll no longer be a skelf
To the demon that comes to mind,
When I think about myself.
