A Letter to the Past

I remember when

You sat outside

Alone but not

Lonely

When you wished

For more than

Life could

Give you

I remember when

You sat and cried

Truly alone and

Truly lonely

When you realized

Life could only

Give you what

You never

Asked for

I remember when

You grew up

Wiped your tears

Threw smiles

Threw fears

When you saw

What life wouldn't

Give

You would

Take
