Letter from the past

Dear John,

If you're reading this than today you're entering your moving in with your adoptive family. You don't know me yet, but soon we will be great friends maybe more.Im writing this in hopes that it will help you not make the same mistakes. Your biological mother made mistakes but you are not one of them. You are smart smarter than you think but don’t become  cocky about it. When your mom makes you mad dont lash out. It will only get worse. Don’t lie to your friends to make them like you, they’ll find out. Don’t question if you want to join band it will be the best experience of your life. Study for calculus, because no offense math isn't your strong suit. Don't be afraid to ask for help when your home life get hard. I'm here for you no matter what. Don't be a doormat, people will just walk on you. In middle school when Hunter offers you a dip dont take it. In the future it will get you into more trouble than you know. Your freshman year of high school don't help tyler out with selling cans. You are a great guy don’t let people use you. Sophomore year when you meet me, maybe if you listened to what i've said I won't fall for you. Then we can be friends and only friends. We won't have to save each other over and over again. People say you are bad for me, but I believe I was bad for you. Don’t date me though you think you love me. We aren't meant to be. So junior year you won't skip class to look for me because we argued about your parents. Senior year you won’t be kicked out of band because you thought id think you were cool for drinking at a football game. Maybe you won't be drunk the first time you tell a girl you love her and that girl wont be me. Maybe you won’t hate me. Maybe i won’t hate you. Graduate High school go to college and follow your dreams. Don’t get involved in drugs. Don't drink and go to the hospital to get your stomach pumped. Don’t let “Squirrel boy” follow you. Become the man I know you can be. Don’t let people turn you into something your not. I love you.
