Letter to Past Me

Dear Past Me,

It's okay to be scared,

to question those around you,

to question yourself,

to question previous beliefs.

You need to be confident,

strong,

opinionated.

You won't figure it all out,

you won't know everything,

but cherish the knowledge you do have,

the friends you gain,

the love others give you.

Know when friends are toxic,

know that you deserve better,

you are worth it.

Don't let those negative thoughts cloud your head,

telling you that you cannot do it,

that you are worthless.

You are strong.

We are strong.

You and I still have some things to work out,

but don't you ever be afraid to come out,

don't be afraid to let your true colors shine.

This is something we both need to remember,

it's something we need to work on

but trust me when I say,

Telling your parents that you're a different religion,

Telling your parents that you're bisexual,

Lifts a weight off your shoulders.

You and I have a long way to go,

But we're going,

And that's all that matters.
