Letter to sadness

Turn away, my loving child

Someday you’ll make it through.

You’re stronger than you know, my child

Your God and I love you.

You’ll do what’s right and do what’s wrong.

But love as life depends.

For life will pass before you blink;

It’s too short to pretend.

This cage you’re trapped in, barred and shut

Is real and cold and strong

But you know that, despite these things

This is not where you belong

You’ll do great things, see great things,

and go so very far.

You’re amazing.

Be the loving person that you are.
