A letter to School
Dear School,
Fourteen years,
Four and ten years spent with education.
Learning became memorizing,
Memory turns to stress.
I have aged with you for my life.
You have and for another four years you will continue to shape me.
All time spent worrying about school.
Encouraged to sleep to be well rested for school,
Required to stay up late to finish all of your projects and worksheets.
The feeling of exhaustion permeates,
The speed of class accelerates.
There is no end in sight,
Yet we are so near.
Passing by day after night.
We feel the hanging dread of exams and the damning fuel of laze to comfort us.
Constant wars waged to enter a college.
The fear of infinite debt.
All to succeed based on you as you both help and hinder.
It is you who I must both thank and hate for what you have done.
For you have molded me into what I am.
Sincerely yours,
Dylan
