A Letter to Time

You encircle the entirety of existence

You force all onward

Move swiftly or slowly, but you can never reverse

No change can be made

You mangle and mash everything in your path

Life is no match for your power

You twist and you break bonds that could not be broken

You tumble and destroy structures that can not fall

But new life you also bring

Born of ash and dust

Growth of all falls on you

Nothing is free of your grasp

Stars will be drained and darken

The fauna will die

But what of you

Eternity bound you seem

But your collision course with the end is already set

All that you can do is advance towards your fate

Desperately reaching out

Trying to seize all that you can

But everything you touch turns to dust

So you too will perish

Everything will be nothing

No darkness no light

No fear no joy

No words no thoughts

Nothing
