letter to the whisper of love

you dripped ink from your lips

and i told you about my father;

did you ever write about me?

i wrote you a hundred poems

about the colors of your smile

and i never showed them to anyone but the moon.

you spilled stars from your eyes

and i told you about the future;

did you ever dream about me?

i knew the soft curves of you

from all the nights i watched you dance

but you never knew i was looking.

you poured promises from your fingertips

and i told you about my scars;

did you ever hurt for me?

every breath you took

broke my heart a little more

and i held myself together with false hope.

you leaked light in your footsteps

and you told me about him;

did you watch me walk away?

there are too many unanswered questions

and unspoken secrets that will never see the light of day;

i wonder if you even think about me anymore.
