A Letter by a Young Romantic

Dear Future Self,

(Of an uncertain age)

I would like to know

I have done justice for you.

To know I’ve made you proud.

I am sure you’d like to know

You are my greatest source of inspiration;

However not in a vain sort of way.

You have spurred me to action,

In order to achieve our mutual goals.

We’ve always persisted through trials

And have been inspired by possibility,

Never solely tangible things,

(We did come to this understanding together, after all.)

We’ve adopted the idea

That life goes much further

Than attainment and achievement.

We believe

Life is about one’s journey, the experiences one has.

Our dream has remained the same

To release each day’s full potential,

To take note of life’s abounding simplicities…

How have I done thus far?

What is your advice

To arrive at the place of self acceptance and respect?

I look forward

To the day in the future

When we will finally meet.
