Letter from Your #1 Fan

This poem is dedicated to my mentor, Ashley. In all truth, the word mentor does not expound on how she has affected my life. It takes a special person to fill the heart of a motherless child; all while playing many other roles in her own life. For this, I owe the world to her because she has given it to me a million times for every second I spend with her. It is impossible to express the love and appreciation I have for her in simple words so this poem serves merely as a segment of my gratitude but I will forever be grateful to be under the wings of such a queen.

Out of all the celebrities with fame & fortune, I aim to be a star like you
Through the perils & despair you shine
I admire how you gracefully push through the storm
Handling life’s pressure with ease
Carrying the world on your shoulders, & using it as wings
To me, your beauty doesn’t mean a thing, & you see as I see that beauty is within the soul
Eye to eye we see
When I look to you I see
The woman I could be
Because your essence is made of gold, & your vibes amplify
I look to the sky
You’re one of the few stars I see
No, it didn’t take money nor did it take a man
You got there on your own. That’s how I want to be
I don’t care about your faults & flaws, uncovering them makes me stronger
Because still through it all you’re perfect to me
Perfect as in perfect as in everything there is to be
Everything for everyone willing to do anything
That’s you
Whole, Harmonious, Happy, & Special
Just like you tell me
& if the world knew the beauty within the beauty then they would
see
Why exactly, you’re my everything.
