Letter to Z

I wish they knew.

I wish they knew that you cry

I wish they knew that I never cry

But I cried that day

because they simply didn't know

and worst of all I didn't know

Why?

Why did it have to be you?

You, of all people

I can't forgive you

not for what you did to that girl

and most of all

I can't forgive you for making me cry

I keep telling myself that you're innocent

I hope that you are

and that you are not a statistic

Inmate 126

That is not who you are

Trevon was on the news again

looks like he is headed your way

Michael is too

What happened to you guys

They said that you are a product of your environment

What environment?

How stereotypical?

just another THUG from Yonkers

I wish I could visit you

but then the tears would flow

and remember you said I don't cry

25 years is too long

so I hope that you read this

and know that I cried
