Letters to a Friend

Hello again my friend,

I guess “again” I shouldn’t send.

Since this is the first letter I have made,

though not the first I have thought but they all fade.

Quite unlike you though; you are always present,

In my mind somewhere always incessant.

Its like your one of those little shoulder people,

Angel or Demon only you can decide but I prefer the steeple.

I see many things every day that bring you to my mind,

like black cars, skateboards, or swag hats I may find.

Its amazing how at one mention of batman I see you clearly,

standing as if alone fighting an inner turmoil fearlessly.

The strongest person I know and by far the most fun,

No one gets me quite like you and I miss you a ton.

I hate that you were taken away no matter how much it was called for ,

I need you in my life! When you left I felt that my heart tore,

not all at once but bit by bit,

it aches all the time even when I simply sit.

I cant play games without you, it just feels pointless,

because I know something is missing and I enjoy it less.

I know its selfish for me to act this way,

After all Im not the one that was forced to leave before last May.

But I guess I feel like I’m to blame in some way or another,

we were just so close I’d always refer to you as my brother.

There must have been something i could have done,

To prevent you from going on the run.

But they took you away! And Im honestly pissed,

That you had to go, oh God what have I missed?

I should have done something different from before,

But I utterly failed you and I feel that in my core.

You left and took a part of me with you,

A part of my mind-seen by only a few,

I would trust you with everything including my life,

but I see how little you value yours and all the damage done by your strife.

Why cant you see how much you mean to me!

I want to rip up your chains and set you free!

But I know I am not the one that can accomplish that feat,

So I’m forced to be alone and watch from my seat.

I watch you fight your battles and witness when you fall,

I watch helplessly as you persevere-forced to crawl.

You've never given up before so please don't start now,

Your better than the Enemy, he is nothing but a sow.

You may lose some battles; and when you do I won’t be far,

But those are not what counts; as long as you win the war.
