Letters from my Soul

i know a monster, tall and proud

with scaly bodice and horns

upon its head

they beg me to hear them,

to share in their sorrow and

breathe in their pain.

Their words become anchors on

my spirit, bringing me down below

the grace of God.

i cry out, "how do i love

the wretched beast that stands before

my eyes, how do i forgive the one

that has tortured me and caused

me such pain! give me strength!"

i collapse at the weight.

it all seemed too unbearable.

but i heard His words, "Even the

broken ones who have wraught to

share with you all the evil things

to which their sin has brought

deserve forgiveness so that there will

be hope for them in Heaven."

I shuddered.

So God commanded me to love my enemies,

so I learned to love myself.
