Letters to Romeo

I never thought it will ever cross my mind --- again

It was long ago

Didn't give it a second thought for half my life

Till last night

In my dreams, It felt very vivid

Like it was yesterday

How we talked for the first and the --- last time

Your pleading voice on the other end of the line

Begging for answers I didn't have at the time

All I knew was, we needed to do the right thing

It didn't mean that your feelings were unreciprocated

Or I didn't want the same thing

I've always wondered and I guess, I still am

Did I really make the right choice?

All my life I've always put others need above me

My unyielding sense of right from wrong

Here now a decade and a half older and wiser?

Second-guessing all that I used to stand for

I THINK YOU SHOULD and I THINK WE SHOULDN'T

That was my response

We were young, naïve and unwise

And I was as much as terrified as you were

I don't think I'll ever forget what we had

Regardless, how short-lived our rendezvous was

I'm just hoping TILL THIS DAY, that we both made the right decision

It may not be what we were yearning for

Be that as it may, the right one

I'm hoping this sheepish letter reaches you, in any way or form

I want you to know that --- I'll always think of you

in my own special way
