Letting Go

The wind howled in defiance

As if trying to wake me from my dreamlike trance.

I was walking closer and closer to the edge,

A couple more steps and I would fall off the ledge.

I tripped an awoke.

I began to cough and seen thick grey smoke.

I went to turn back, but my legs went another way.

It was like to my own body, I had no say.

Then I figured it wasn't that disgraceful.

In my heart, I knew no one would be mournful

So I stopped fighting my body and walked with ease

I wanted to feel like a birdie taking off from the trees.

I stopped, looked at the break-taking sight.

Soon I would be falling and able to take flight.

My soul would ascend into the sky

As my body crashes into the Earth, there motionless it would lie.
