Letting Go
Eighteen years she has lived in that house.
Her bedroom, still that tickle me pink.
She has walked those old wood stairs for years.
In and out she leaves in a blink.
For one last time she will go out that door.
No longer the little girl living here.
With a kiss and a hug she is gone.
Leaving her mom in a puddle of tears.
Once a baby bird just learning to tweet,
She now knows how to sing.
Once a baby bird just learning to fly,
She now knows how to spread her wings.
As they say goodbye one last time,
They see a tear come to her eye.
Letting go is not an easy task,
Something they just now have realized.
