Levi
Clean out the marks left behind on the creaking floors.
Dump the mop bucket over.
Let the brown non-filterd water flow.
From one room entrance to another.
Step over.
fall down on raggedy knees.
Pick up the brush with water inflicted hands
presses firmly and steadily
with the muscles tense and sprained.
scrub and scrub.
Everything is bubbling over.
The foam covering the blistered hands.
Cleanse it.
yet even with all the work
there is no erasing of the stains from the wooden floors
nor the carpet
nor the depths of the counters
and rounding table
there will always be that mark left behind
a mark of existence.
one that no chemical can drive away.
