Liberation

You rise slowly, like a corpse from the grave,

And begin your weary journey

Your day

Passes slowly, minute by agonizing minute.

The burden you bare is heavier than the heart you hold,

Locked in the very cage that threatens to burst with every trembling breath.

You rest

On the wayside of the rocky road you call your path,

But this is no sweet treat,

And you will know no relief

Until you release the bounds which hold you down.

You leave your heavy load by the road,

And you calmly walk away.

For one day,

You will breathe another breath.

You will dream another dream.

Your temporary bondage will give way to eternal freedom.

The good times will last a lifetime,

And you will smile, knowing all the while

That this, too, shall pass.
