Liberation

There was chains that held me here,

In bondage a captive.

I was chained to this island,

Chained to this life;

This body, this soul.

The day came when I stopped revolting,

And let whatever be, be.

I gathered crops, tall and green

But enough was never enough.

The language I knew,

But ones I long forgot

Held in my thoughts.

Soon the day came,

When I was freed

That I suddenly realized, it was all in greed.

What did a slave do with freedom?

When slavery is all they know

And here I am floating,

With no place to call home
