The Lie

7/2/12

There’s no ceiling

In this world I walk so freely in

Like a balloon let loose

But, just to get snagged in wire

And lose my helium

I’m a prisoner of my words

In this self-fulfilling prophecy

My feet have forsaken me

While my minds fleeting

And my hearts asleep

And if you really carried me

I wish you would’ve just set me down

Given me no way to turn around

Cause I’ve always felt a partner

With the ground

And because everything is relevant

Including the best of me

Lest it be to rot on

In my festering destiny

Of who the hell knows

And to question it - why?

If we really get down to real size

I’m just a worm in the dirt

Eat shit and die

I’ll embrace the rain

And hide from the sunlight

And isn’t that the life?

You tell me

Get the F out of there!

Then you’ll be absolutely right
