Lies

I told myself I wouldn't get hurt

I took note of each red flag

Each lie you told me

Yet I still proceeded

I still handed you my heart

I was hypnotised by your words

I found myself reaching for you

Even when I told myself I shouldn't

But you were a lie

You were never real

You were just words with no meaning behind them

And I was like a moth drawn to a flame

I told myself I wouldn't get burned

That I would be careful

But that was also a lie
