Lies and Chemicals

Upon further analysis

Of the human brain,

We understand being anxious

Is more than a neck pain

Nestled below a smile

Are you a contradiction?

Are you a sham?

Are you your own fiction?

I am

I've been for a while

Don't get me wrong

I'm happy

I can sing a song

My toes can tip-tappy

Down the store aisle.

But as I lay in my bed

The bright light makes me wish

I was dead.

Maybe I'm just putting up a fight

For my life in this bile.

Dear God, please send me

A rush of dopamine

In order to me to see

Happiness isnt just morphine

In a vile.
