Lies and Secrets

My love! - from you I want no secrets,

Let me give you me for real,

And yet I cannot let you know,

The sorrow that I really feel,

Desperately in my sleep,

But hide by day; my tears will keep.

My darling! - let me smile for you,

Please believe me in my lie,

That I am happy; please ignore me,

As I weaken, as I cry,

Desperately in my sleep,

But laugh by day; my tears will keep.

My dear! - with you my life is wonder,

But at night each time we part,

I take a knife to bed with me,

And dream of cutting through my heart,

Desperately in my sleep,

But wake by day; my tears will keep.

My true! My kind! My always real! -

I long, I live, to see you fly,

To serve your joy, but look away,

And secretly I long to die,

Desperately in my sleep,

But live by day; my tears will keep.

But as my love for you is true,

And as you love me truly too,

Then joyfully I spring from sleep,

And with your love, my life will keep.
