The Lies That Build The Social Pyramid

Social class is just a couple of words with no true meaning

We act as though it is not rude and demeaning

We look to those below us and ignore

We watch them suffer, then shut the door

To keep ourselves from seeing the truth

That poverty has spread to adults and youth

Poverty is not just those who are lazy and uneducated

But to those with little resources and who are underestimated

We look up to those rich, white upper classmen

We accept that they are the ones with money in their hand

We decide to blind ourselves from the rich people with their power

While those in poverty get just a couple cents an hour

Upper class people have no conscience due to power and cash

They metaphorically step all over the lower class until they smash

The hope out of those in poverty and reassure their place

Which is why we look at the poor people with disgrace

But those in poverty have no choice on where they stand

Especially when there is no one giving a helping hand

Although we are stuck in this social hierarchy

It appears to us as permanent malarkey.
