Life

I was once untouched by disappointment
I was once happy and free
my body was not marked by depression
my mind was never caged
I was once okay with life
ready to grow and change
I was ready for everything ive never had
never knew this kind of pain
I thought I had understood life
never knew these thoughts were real
I never stayed up crying
never made myself bleed
never sat alone striving to be completely alone.

I used to be happy
and my body was pure
never turned to drugs and liquor
to cleanse myself of pain
I used to feel pretty, smart and good
never flinched when I was held
or jumped at my reflection
I would have never thought death was the key
the answer to my unsolved problems
