Life

Crumpled at the end of the bed

Waiting for the day you wed,

The day you grow up

And you're no longer a pup.

You'll see the real world

And wished you'd curled

Up in bed and stayed there

Away from all this terror.

The lonliness didn't leave

You still can hardly breathe.

Work demands more

And now you're getting sore.

You bought a cat,

You feel fat,

But this is life

You're not a wife

Or CEO,

Your skin won't glow

And your stairs creek.

But you still see a peek,

A peek of hapiness.

And in your blindness

You seek a friend

Someone till the end.

But then life hits again

And you wish you'd been

More careful with yourself

And stayed on our high shelf.

But instead you leapt

When you should've slept.

Filled with regret,

Why'd you take that bet?
