Life

I often wonder if my life is life at all.

When I walk, and talk, and sleep, I know that I am living.

But I don't want to just live;

I want to love, to fly, to feel, to be happy,

Concepts that are only familiarized through second-hand accounts.

I do not feel I connect anymore,

or that I even know how.

How to fly, how to sing.

I want to, and I don't let myself for

reasons beyond my control.

It's as if I'm in a bottomless ocean,

but not because I can't swim,

because I refuse to float.

Therefore, allowing myself to sink.

And I feel I'll sink into darkness too deep for escape or rescue.
