Life

How can you not see the evolution?

It's happening right now

It's the only solution

It's why when I start to fight

I sit down and write

I started a three year old

Nineteen Nineties just starting to unfold

Didn't know it at the time

That jamming typewriter would change my life

Releasing all these big thoughts from a little mind

I remember being on the school yard

Losing my faith in God

Just trying to work hard

I made a big impression

While class was still in session

Though I'm a graduate

I value it

Books aren't the only thing that taught me lessons

I learned people are scared

To face their fears

So they just tune out the world

With their fingers in their ears

But when they need someone to talk to

They need an open mind

To seek out the truth

It's funny when all walks of life

Start to seek out my advice

Some of them try to change my mind

Because they don't like the way I use mine

If you need an ear

You'll find me here

I know that our trials are just life

Hey everyone, I'm a very thoughtful and introspective aspiring writer. I've gone through some heavy stuff and writing helps tremendously and I joined powerpoetry to keep me inspired and going and help deal with the demons. I love music, making independent short films and music videos and of course writing.

This is for an old school friend, this story is kind of sad but I wanted to tell you all. This guy I used to sit behind in my history class, had a bad break up and a rumor had been going around school she'd had an abortion when she'd really had a miscarriage. He came in upset, and vented his frustrations out on me because he was about go kick the person's ass who started the rumor. After about 20 minutes of listening and doing my best to understand the situation in it's entirety, I advised him against starting a fight and just correcting people whenever they approached him about the situation.

At the end of the class, he took what I said to heart which caught me off guard because we were two completely different people. I'm sort of a hippie, I was always trying to help people pass their classes, voluntarily tutored people with any free time I had and often gave out supplies to those who were in need.

He was seeking a future in the military and didn't speak to me often because he qualified as popular and I really was just the weird kid. So when he thanked me and actually took my advice it really stuck with me. It's one of those stories that remind you of what being a listener can do and somehow even though I know he may have forgotten it by now, it reminded me that people can do something small to help out in this world.
